Angel: Angelus Rex Part 2 - Angelus, Agent Of Wolfram And Hart Chapter 2
by Red Jacobson ([email protected])

Angelus walked into the lobby of Wolfram and Hart, and smirked as he saw
Lilah and Lindsey waiting for him. 'Even backed up by guards holding stakes,
they are still scared shitless of me. I can smell their fear all the way over
here. Its delicious, and will make my job much easier!' Smiling widely, he
strode to meet them, hand outstretched. "Lilah, Lindsay! Its so nice of you
to take the time out of your busy schedule to meet me. You're certainly
looking well," he said in his friendliest voice.

As he approached them, both Lilah and Lindsay turned away and headed for
an open elevator. Catching up to them, Angelus threw his arms over their
shoulders. Visibly uncomfortable, Lindsay shrugged the arm off, and Lilah
brushed his hand off. Smirking, Angelus lowered his hand, and grabbed her
ass as he went past. Lilah whirled on him, glaring. "I don't know what your
game is, Angel, but if you try that again, I swear I'll stake you!" she
hissed.

"Hey, sweet cheeks, theres no game, I was just thinking how much I've always
admired your ass, and I couldn't help myself."

Lilah paled, but was prevented from saying anything by the elevator door
opening. Lynwood was standing there, a sharks smile on his face. He held the
door to his office open and waved Angelus inside.

Sitting down at his desk, Lynwood and Angelus looked at each other for a
minute, neither speaking, until Lynwood finally broke the silence. "So,
Angel, you requested this meeting. Why?"

"First off, Lilah called me Angel as well, and I didn't bother to correct her
at the time, but, if we are going to do business, I'd appreciate it if you
used my proper name. Call me Angelus. Angel has left the building, folks," he
smiled at the suddenly sweating executive.

Lynwood paled, and then said, in a voice that he struggled to keep from
shaking, "Very well, Angelus. Why did you request this meeting?"

"Its simple; I want to sign up. I've got a plan to take over the LA
underworld, as well as, eventually, the political machinery of the city as
well, and Wolfram and Hart have the resources to help me."

"I see, and are you planning to dig up Acathla Acatha again?"

"Not at all, Lyn baby. I've had plenty of time to think the past few
years, and I realized I made several mistakes last time, going for the big
statement. That sort of thing attracts the wrong sort of attention, and I
also realized I can have a lot more fun in a world with humans in it. To use
a term one of my children was fond of, humans are just like Happy-like Happy
Meals with legs. Besides, I want to see all three of the Lord of the Rings
movies," Angelus added with a grin.

"So, Angelus, exactly what do want from us?" Lynwood asked, attempting to get
the conversation back on track.

"Simple. I'll need legal cover, like you provided for Winters, until he
decided to work on his suntan."

"Yes, well, he didn't have much choice, since you pushed him out the window."

"Po-ta-to, Po-tah-to. Anyway, I'll need access to some of your magic minds,
I've got some profit making plans, and will need there assistance."

"Anything else?"

"A few things; but, I'm not being greedy, they will work towards the Senior
Partners benefit as well. First, I'll need the full time use of two of your
lawyers. And, by full time, I do mean, 24/7. They will do their normal work
during the day, and I will have special duties for them during the evening
hours."

"What else?"

"I will need use of two warehouses in the city, preferably at separate
locations, which can be remodeled as needed. Also, any information you can
provide me regarding the current heads of the organized crime families in the
area would be helpful. Finally, the Gem of Amara was crushed and dropped in
the ocean, and I'm interested in finding it again, or, alternately, something
that will serve the same purpose."

"I see, and, this is purely a rhetorical question, you understand, but do you
have any particular lawyers in mind?" Lynwood asked with a grin.

"I'm sure you know, but, just to make it official for the multiple recording
devices you have in the office, I'm referring to Lilah Morgan and Lindsay
McDonald."

"You understand that if I agree to your terms, that you can not kill or turn
the two of them? Their contracts with the Senior Partners preclude this. Your
predecessors little wine cellar incident caused wholesale revisions in the
contracts of all our staff."

"That's not a problem. I need them able to go out in the daylight. Whatever
happens after dark, well, we don't really have to discuss that, do we?"

"Not at all. What our associates do on assignment stays on assignment.
Anyway, to put it bluntly, if I agree to your requests, whats in it for us?"

"Quite a few things, actually. One, money, how does 40 percent of the money
thats spent on vice in this city grab you? Two, my former employees out of
town; they've disrupted several of your operations, and I can stop that.
Three, less random violence, after things are consolidated, of course, and
four, when the apocalypse arrives, I, and my entire family, will be working
for the Senior Partners."

Lynwood shut his eyes for a moment, and when he opened them, he smiled at
Angelus. "Well, Angelus, your terms of the alliance are acceptable. Welcome
to Wolfram and Hart. If you can wait just a moment, the contract will be
arriving from the home office to be signed. Would you care for a drink while
we wait?"

"Brandy would be excellent, thanks."

"I believe I'll join you."

As they were finishing their drinks, a portal opened over Lynwood's desk, and
three scrolls dropped out.

"Three copies?" Angelus asked.

"Of course. One for you, one for this office, and one for the personnel files
at the Home Office." After signing the contracts, Lynwood spoke again. "Now,
as far as Lilah and Lindsay, will you need them this evening, or should they
report to you tomorrow?"

"Tomorrow would be fine I have things to do this evening, and won't have
anything for them to do until tomorrow evening at the earliest. I'll stop by
here right after dark to gather them up. After all, everyone knows how unsafe
these streets are at night. We wouldn't anything to happen to them, would
we?" he grinned. "Now, if you will excuse me, I need to get something to eat.
I'll be in touch regarding the details. Have a good evening." And, shaking
hands, he left.

Driving deeper into the city, he saw a woman sitting in her car, with the
emergency flashers going. Pulling over, he walked to the car and tapped on
the window. The woman cracked the window and he said, "Hi, what seems to be
the problem?"

"I don't really know," she replied, "It was running fine, and it just died."

"Well, let me take a look. Pop the hood for me, will you?"

Angelus lifted the hood and poked around for a minute, then said, "I think I
see your problem. Can you come here? I'll show you, so that you can tell the
mechanic."

When the woman moved to the front of the car, she said, "What did you find?"

"Well, miss, I'm sorry to tell you this, but your engine is dead."

"Dead? Oh no! What am I gonna do?"

"I wouldn't worry too much about it, though, because you are, too!" Angelus
added, as his demon came forth.

Before she could scream, he clapped his hand over her mouth and drained her.
Quickly wiping off the hood of the car, he put the woman's body in his truck
and drove away.
